Lots of water has passed under the bridge since my last blog on this subject (May 26)!  After a much-needed vacation from the continuous bombardment of dramatic developments, I'm finally inspired to pick up the thread and take a look at the direction things are heading.  Since the firing of FBI Director James Comey on May 9, the script of this political reality show has gotten increasingly shocking & unbelievable, day by day.

In a previous blog regarding this issue, Uranus Strikes Again, I wrote that once the North Lunar Node entered LEO on May 9, "there will be lots of drama as this new 18-month cycle unfolds.  It will likely shed light on things that have been hidden behind the scenes during the North Node's previous transit through VIRGO.  The Sun's trine to Pluto — also on May 9 — suggests that this issue isn't going away and that this incident is only the beginning of something big. . ."

And that certainly seems to be the case!  One week later, special counsel Robert Mueller was appointed to investigate the Russian interference in the 2016 elections, as well as its possible collusion with the Trump campaign.  The investigation is now looking into possible obstruction of justice by Trump, and has recently expanded to include Trump, his family and his associates' web of financial ties to Russia.   This seems to have more potential for prosecution than the murkier concerns about collusion and obstruction. He would've been better off to have left Comey alone!

Mueller — a Leo — was destined to be in the spotlight during this LEO solar month.  His 73rd birthday is on August 7, the same day as the upcoming Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in LEO/AQUARIUS.  Two days ago, Mueller took a serious step forward in his investigation by impaneling a grand jury in Washington, DC. with the power to subpoena banks for financial information.   This action has placed him at the center of the cyclone — and more than ever, in Trump's crosshairs.

Totally obsessed, angry and frustrated, Trump has unleashed an all-out assault on this investigation –  calling it a "witch hunt" and "fake news", as well as lambasting Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the Russian probe.  Let's hope he doesn't do something radical (such as mixing it up even more with NorthKorea) to distract us from what's going on.  If Trump attempts to fire Mueller, there's no question that this move would backfire on him — just as his firing of Comey has done. Because he has been making loud noises about having him removed, Congress made it a point to set some bills in motion before its summer recess to prevent this from happening.  It has become a real cat and mouse game between the three branches of government: the White House, the Department of Justice and Congress!

Trump’s standing with the American people (and Republican congressional members) has seriously deteriorated since the firing of Comey in May.  The current perception of a decline in U.S. leadership abroad, a dead-in-the-water presidential agenda on the domestic front, and the failed Republican health-care bill has only added to his problems.  And his unhinged tweets are only creating more difficulties for him, as well as raising serious questions about his sanity. He appears to be his own worst enemy! A recent poll puts his current approval rating at 33% — the lowest ever for a new US President.  It's not surprising:  he's under some serious Saturn transits, a topic that I will cover in the next astro-blog. . .

It will be very interesting to see what develops as this dramatic & unpredictable Full Moon shines its light on this political reality show (and eclipses everything in its path).   Have an enlightening eclipse!

How about a little drama?  Now that the North Node has gone into LEO, the plot is thickening — with one surprising twist after another!  Whether we like it or not, we are constantly bombarded by the news reports which are hard to ignore.   And our curiosity is continually piqued by each new installment of this political reality show (which is actually REAL).  We are fascinated by what’s going to happen next.  OMG!  Guess what happened today?!!

Trump will dominate the spotlight even more than usual this month because he’s a GEMINI (and the Sun is now in GEMINI).   With his natal Moon in the opposite sign SAGITTARIUS, he was born on a Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse.  And his over-the-top antics certainly do eclipse everything else that’s going on!

Now our national political reality show has become an international reality show.  Last week, the scenario moved from the local stage to the world stage.  SAGITTARIUS is associated with foreign affairs and religion, so Trump is playing out his chart in full color.  It seems quite significant that Muslim, Jewish and Catholic leaders were included in his first foray into foreign territory.

Trump may have left them happy in the Mideast, but the Europeans were left cold.  His criticism of their financial role in NATO, along with his refusal to commit to standing by our long-time allies, has shaken the European community to its core. (Combative Mars − currently in GEMINI − was exactly on Trump’s natal Sun during his diatribe against NATO).  And it is now being reported that he plans to pull the US out of the Paris climate agreement.  When will this craziness end??

On the day Trump fired James Comey (May 9), the North Node began its new 18-month transit through dramatic LEO, and the shocking Mercury/Uranus conjunction in ARIES fired up a raging controversy.  Most interesting, in Trump’s own horoscope on this same day , his progressed Moon entered his 12th house (a cycle sometimes known as the “sh*t hitting the fan”).

And on May 10 (which was the Full Moon in TAURUS SCORPIO), his White House visit (and sharing of classified information) with the Russians got everybody howling.   It reminds me of the MOON card in the tarot deck!  To add to the drama, on this day, his progressed Moon began a new 2-year cycle in LEO.  Unfortunately for him, he’s going to get more attention than he wants, and light will become shed in areas that he’d much prefer remain dark.  Secrets will become uncovered!  His obsessive need for public attention and adulation (reflected by his LEO ascendant and Sun in the 10th house) could ultimately lead to his downfall.

As I write this, it turns out that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is now under investigation for allegedly attempting to establish a secret channel with Moscow back in December ’16.  This has only added to the intrigue surrounding the Trump administration’s relationship with Russia.  Next week, James Comey will be testifying  in the senate investigation, which is bound to stir up even more fireworks.  Keep an eye on the upcoming Full Moon in GEMINI & SAGITTARIUS as it comes to a head on June 9 — it will bring increased clarity to this murky situation.  Not surprisingly, this scenario does get loonier all the time!

There was an edginess in the air.  I was anticipating something out-of-the-ordinary to happen, with the Mercury/Uranus conjunction in ARIES on May 9.  But it started off to be a such a normal day — the sun was out, the birds were singing and things were mellow.  Then, in the late afternoon — like a bolt of lightning — the craziness began.  With the New York Times’ announcement of the rude and abrupt firing of FBI Director James Comey, a seismic shock wave rolled across the country.

I was shocked, needless to say — but not really surprised.  Since Uranus is the planet associated with unpredictability, sudden change and erratic energy, it’s to be expected that some rearrangements, separations, deviations, twists or turns will disrupt the status quo when this planet is in play.  “As above, so below”.  Significantly, on the same day, the North Lunar Node made its grand entrance into LEO; there will be lots of drama as this new 18-month cycle unfolds!  It will likely shed light on things that have been hidden behind the scenes during the North Node‘s previous transit through VIRGO.  The Sun‘s trine to Pluto — also on May 9 — suggests that this issue isn’t going away and that this incident is only the beginning of something big. . .

This current administration is very Uranian in nature, from President Trump himself all the way to the horoscope of the inauguration itself (Sun in AQUARIUS, with a Jupiter/Uranus opposition). This aspect can expose some shocking truths, particularly those involving foreign affairs, communications and technology.  Its first of 3 occurrences was at the end of December ’16, exactly when Trump’s election advisor General Flynn was observed in illegal communications with the Russians.  Exactly on the second occurrence in early March.  Attorney-General Sessions had to recuse himself from any investigation of the Russian election meddling due to his surreptitious communications with the Russians. The final occurrence of the Jupiter/Uranus opposition will take place on September 27.  Hopefully, the truth will come out by then.

Today is the FULL MOON in TAURUS & SCORPIO, which tends to amplify territorial issues, conflicts and power struggles.  The justifications given for Comey’s firing are laughable and can’t be taken seriously; the timing of the firing itself is troubling.  This is just another of numerous detractions that President Trump has created (like his made-up accusation that President Obama had been spying on him) to derail the FBI’s investigation into his election team’s possible collusion with the Russians.  The subpoenas were proliferating, and Comey was just getting too close for comfort. Trump’s actions indicate a serious abuse of power, as well as a breach of ethics.  Where are the checks & balances when we need them??

The integrity of our democracy and judicial system is being called into question at this time — let’s hope that common sense prevails and that an independent, non-partisan team can be assembled to get to the bottom of this serious matter.  Today, the North Node is exactly on President Trump’s LEO Ascendant and heading into his 12th house.  He will need to face the (real) facts.  And the upcoming Moon Wobble (peaking on May 19) is likely to have an upsetting effect on his chart, too.  Stay tuned — more will be revealed. . .

As I write this, the winds in Las Vegas are howling in the 40 mph range, with gusts up to 80 mph.  Large trees have been uprooted all over town, four semi-trucks  tipped over on the freeways, and power outages have affected over 48,000 households.  We are used to winds here, but not like this.  The temperature dropped nearly 30 degrees within hours — this is intense!  The southern United States is also reeling from extreme weather conditions, and a massive fire caused an interstate bridge to collapse in Atlanta during rush hour.

It’s interesting to see how the current weather mirrors the cosmic weather.  The Jupiter/Pluto square – a planetary aspect which can be described as intense, tumultuous & eruptive – came to a head today.  It’s not just the weather that’s blowing wild.  It’s pretty windy on Capitol Hill, too.

The build-up over the past several weeks has been quite disruptive.  The health care replacement bill, which was introduced on the Full Moon in PISCES & VIRGO (the signs associated with health), failed to launch last weekend.  It wasn’t a healthy bill for this country, so it was a blessing that it imploded before even coming to a vote.  So now, not only is Trump fighting with the Democrats, the FBI & intelligence agencies, the federal courts, the media and the Mexicans,  he’s also taking on the Republicans — his own party!  How ironic is it that the Freedom Caucus blocked the passage of this  bill?

The assault on Mother Earth that has taken place this past week is another example of how this Jupiter/Pluto square can manifest. Based upon a worldview that rejects science and rational, factual thinking, the president was able — with a few jagged, angry slashes of his pen — to impose his misguided belief system on us and single-handedly destroy decades of environmental progress.  The corporate interests, once again, have been placed above the health & welfare of the people.  Along with the repeal of regulations that protected our air and water, the renewed emphasis on coal mining, oil drilling & fracking (including the opening of the Dakota pipeline) is a major setback for this country.  The administration is even refocusing its attention on Nevada’s earthquake-prone Yucca Mountain for storing the country’s nuclear waste.  Heaven help us!

And during this same period, the South Korean president was impeached, removed from office, and − today − thrown in jail for corruption.  Is this a sign of what’s ahead for this country?  The Russian/Trump campaign connection is the big noise right now, and it looks like the lid is coming off a likely cover-up in the near future.   The month of ARIES can be one of turmoil  & volcanic activity (and Mt. Etna just recently erupted).  More will be revealed — stay tuned!

We had a front-row opportunity to experience the power of the planets this week, particularly during the Academy Awards ceremony.  Associated with surprise, shocks and unexpected twists & turns, Uranus has been an active player this past week in the unfolding astrological drama.  And it continues throughout this current week!

As the Mars/Uranus (in ARIES) conjunction built to a peak on Sunday, there were plenty of upsets & disruptions along the way.  The sudden uptick in immigrant deportations, the shocking destruction of headstones in Jewish cemeteries in both St. Louis & Philadelphia (along with the revelation of hundreds of bomb threats to Jewish community centers), and the horror of cars running into crowds all over the globe — all of these are representative of the explosive potential of this conjunction.

The crazy mix-up in the announcement of the Best Picture award was a classic example of Uranus in action – surprise!!  And the biggest turnaround was that this Oscar, mistakenly awarded to La La Land, ultimately went to Moonlight – a coming-of-age movie involving a gay, black man.  Definitely something new & different!  Remember how there were no minorities represented at all last year?  And this year, that all changed.  The fact that the Academy Awards were held on the New Moon & Solar Eclipse in PISCES may have had something to do with it  (PISCES is associated with minorities — as well as with the film industry).  Hollywood was “eclipsed” by an LGBT story – just amazing!

So…we still have the unpredictable Jupiter/Uranus opposition to look forward to — on Thursday, March 2.  This  time of uncertainty can bring  unexpected visitors, travels, changes in plans or perspectives, break-ups or profound insights.  There could be some major surprises or confrontations on the international scene with this aspect — life can be very topsy-turvy these days.  More will be revealed — stay tuned!

At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards tonight, Adele was the belle of the ball!  She was awarded a total of five Grammys, including the best song of the year – and the best album of the year.  She also performed two songs, one of which – a tribute to the late George Michael – got off to a rough start and had to be re-started.  Despite the glitch, she wowed the audience & got a standing ovation.

Perhaps it’s due to her AQUARIUS ascendant that she runs into technical glitches now & then.  Her Sun sign is TAURUS (a natural sign for a singer, as this sign is associated with the throat and vocal cords).  And with her Moon in SAGITTARIUS, along with her Sun/Jupiter conjunction, she’s known for her straightforward, blunt way of communicating.  She has a lot to say!

During her acceptance speech for the album of the year, Adele professed her admiration for her fellow nominee, Beyoncé, and claimed that she deserved the award even more than she did!

Beyoncé, pregnant with twins, performed an amazing “gossomer goddess” set based on a motherhood theme. She also picked up two awards for the best urban contemporary album and best music video.  She is a VIRGO (a hardworking perfectionist, for sure) with her Moon in sexy SCORPIO. (Her ascendant is LIBRA in this chart, but according to, there are some discrepancies in her time of birth; it does seem to fit, though).

It was a real treat to experience the performances of these two superstars and to see the warm affection shared between these two earthy, talented singer/songwriters.  Their sweet interchange made this awards ceremony seem less of a competition and more of a collaboration of bright lights.  What would we do without the wonderful uplift our musicians bring to a world in need of sweetness & harmony?!!

“For every action, there is always an opposite and equal reaction,” according to Sir Isaac Newton − and this axiom has been perfectly illustrated during today’s Full Moon (with the Moon in LEO opposing the Sun in AQUARIUS)!   The Full Moon represents the culmination of whatever was initiated two weeks earlier with the New Moon.  The new administration’s controversial travel & immigration ban was issued as an executive order on January 27 −  the day of the New Moon in AQUARIUS, as well as the day that Mars entered the impulsive, headstrong sign ARIES.  And after two weeks of global craziness & legal challenges, things have finally come to a head. Checkmate!

This particular Full Moon also happens to be a Lunar Eclipse, and it is clear that President Trump has been eclipsed − by the US Constitution itself!  In a move fitting for the topsy-turvy AQUARIUS month, the tables were turned upside down on him as a 3-judge panel from the US Court of Appeals unanimously upheld the temporary hold on this misguided executive order.  In a strong rebuke by our judicial system, our newbie president has been put on notice that the system of checks & balances built into our system is alive & well!

This is a considerable setback for the administration, and especially for President Trump, who cannot stand to lose. His attempts via Twitter to deprecate & diminish the judges actually backfired on him.  It is a potent reminder to him that he is not the king (although with his LEO ascendant, he seems to believe that he is) and that he needs to be accountable to the American people for his actions.  Wonder if that will ever sink in?

With his Sun in GEMINI in the 10th House (of power & leadership), President Trump needs to learn about the limitations of the office – and the separation of powers that is inherent in our Constitution. This nation was founded on the AQUARIAN principles of freedom, liberty & justice for all — and a government that is of the people, by the people and for the people.  Until he understands that he is the president for all Americans, the loud protests and pushback will only continue. If the first few weeks of his administration are any indication of what lies ahead, we are in for a rough ride for the next 4 years.  “United we stand, divided we fall”.

I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people. - Isaac Newton

Today was Super Bowl Sunday – a giant of a day in the world of sports (associated with Jupiter) – and also the day when Jupiter is turning retrograde (February 5th at 10:52 pm PST).  What a send-off – Jupiter is known for doing things in a big way!  It has stretched as far as it could go (to 23 degrees of LIBRA) before starting its 4-month cycle of going back over things (through June 8).  So today was a great distraction from business as usual (such as other Jupiterian concerns like politics, religion, immigration & international relations)!!

And what an exciting & surprising game it turned out to be! Tom Brady was certainly the hero of the day, winning his record-breaking 5th Super Bowl.  With his natal Sun in LEO and in the 10th House of public success & achievement, he has the horoscope of a winner! And Jupiter’s current presence in his 1st House gave him the positive boost he needed, although the Moon in GEMINI was opposing his Neptune earlier in the game, giving the illusion that things weren’t going too well.  However, the Sun ruling planet of his Sun Sign, LEO – was transiting AQUARIUS and he was able to turn things upside down & around. Transiting Mars was exactly on his Moon in ARIES, which helped fire him up & push him forward.  Interesting to note that he dedicated his game to his mother (symbol of the Moon)!

The other star of tonight’s show was Lady Gaga – an ARIES who also has her Sun in the 10th House of professional success & public recognition.  And transiting Mars was activating her Sun in ARIES during today’s half-time show. Talk about star power!  She literally lit up the sky with her brilliant choreography & creativity.  What a night – thanks to Jupiter for taking things to the max!  And thanks, too, to Mars for energizing our stars today!  Mars will be in ARIES for the next 5 weeks, so it’s fun to speculate about what other positive actions can be stimulated.  New, creative opportunities await us!

We’re only 12 days into the month of AQUARIUS and the new administration − and the surprises keep coming!  And what is the most surprising to many is that the new president did exactly what he said he would.  In this era of fake news & “alt” facts, it is a daunting task to distinguish between truth and lies.  Many of his supporters didn’t really believe he would follow through − and are in awe that he’s keeping his campaign promises.  Those who were opposed him are horrified that he did follow through − and are in shock.  Everybody’s surprised!  And that’s the message of the AQUARIUS − expect the unexpected!

Here is the 2017 inaugural chart:  a snapshot of the what to expect in the next four years with this administration.  And from day one, it’s been a wild ride.  Although every inaugural chart since 1937 is based on January 20 at noon (and will always have the Sun in AQUARIUS and the ascendant in TAURUS), it’s the rest of the horoscope that makes it unique  and defines its potential.

The most potent feature of this inaugural chart is the Moon in SCORPIO (the sign associated with power, ambition, control & leadership — as well as with anger, violence, revenge & intimidation).  It is square (at odds with) the Sun in AQUARIUS (symbolizing freedom, equality & teamwork — and rebellion, revolution, disruption and divisiveness).  The fact that the three most significant points in the chart (Sun, Moon Ascendantare all in fixed signs suggests much rigidity and resistance to hearing others’ points of view.  The challenge will be to find common ground and areas of shared concern, rather than wasting time squaring off.  We will need to call upon the peacemaking abilities of Jupiter in LIBRA (although the disruptive Jupiter/Uranus opposition is likely to upset the apple cart more often than not)!

Since the very beginning, the SCORPIO Moon has been expressing herself loudly, considering the impressive turnouts for the marches everywhere.  Women are on the warpath!  “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”  Anger is a very powerful emotion that can be channeled into productive action.  Perhaps feminine power may be our salvation over this term!  Although many men have voiced concerns. this is not an anti-male movement.  Instead, it’s about fighting to preserve our hard-earned rights and being treated equally & respectfully by those in power.  And we’ll need to find avenues for turning the square between the Sun (male energy) and the Moon (female energy) into a constructive collaboration.  As always, LOVE IS THE ANSWER!

The compassion & sensitivity to the “little guy” shown by all the planets in PISCES could be offset, however, by the square from Saturn in SAGITTARIUS.  Among other things, this strongly relates to funding limitations when it comes to the country’s health care issues.  It also indicates conflicts in belief systems regarding minorities, immigrants, religion & education.  It’s very clear from the inauguration horoscope that there is much work to be done to meet the challenges ahead, and with the correct use of power & positive vision, we can hopefully move forward.  Heaven help us!

PS:  Below is the horoscope of Donald Trump for those of you who haven’t seen it before.  I will talk about his chart in a future post.

The recent Full Moon on December 13 certainly stirred up some interesting activity — and right along the lines of the signs involved: Sagittarius & Gemini.  Since transportation is associated with both of these signs, it wasn’t surprising to hear about the railway strike in Great Britain that began that day.  It affected over 100,000 people and is considered the worst strike of its kind in over twenty years! And a pretty inconvenient time, eh?

At the same time, Alaska Airlines announced its acquisition of Virgin America — an timely action related to the Sagittarius/Gemini axis and its emphasis on transportation and travel.  It was obviously in the works for some time, but came together at the Full Moon.

Also on the 13th, the long-awaited nominee for the new Secretary of State was finally announced:  Rex Tillerson, Chairman & CEO of ExxonMobil.  As you can see from his solar chart below, he is an Aries with his Moon, Venus & North Node in Pisces (the sign associated with oil).  He’s been with Exxon for over 40 years, so  he is certainly living out his horoscope!  And Aries individuals are naturals at business and in opening up new territories — which fits him to a T.  He is a very worldly individual, and the timing of this announcement was once again very fitting for the Sagittarius/Gemini Full Moon!

However, due to his quirky Sun/Uranus square, it’s possible that his strong ties to Putin & Russia (a very sensitive issue these days) may be too controversial for Congress and could derail his nomination.  As with many of the current cabinet nominees, he’s an unusual choice : he’s a businessman, not a diplomat or politician.  It will be interesting to see if he can, in typical Aries fashion, push through all the conflicts of interests and actually take on the role of representing the US on the world stage.

Last but not least, a major report on the status of US education in relation to the rest of the world was released.  It showed the US near the bottom in math, and in the middle in reading & science.  It seems that there is more of an emphasis in US schools on social media & athletics than on learning.  This is a sad commentary on our educational system — and we have certainly been seeing the results of this lately.  Since the signs Sagittarius & Gemini relate to education, knowledge and global affairs, it’s obvious that we need to raise some awareness here…if we want to keep up with the rest of the world!

So much misinformation is circulating these days, mostly due to social media, that it takes a questioning mind to sort out truth from fiction.  It’s unbelievable that fake news is getting more attention than the real thing.  What is that saying about the people of this country???  Full Moons tends to illuminate issues and bring them out in the open.  Perhaps life is so overwhelming these days that people would prefer being in La La Land!
