Hallelujah — ’tis the season for renewal and rejuvenation!  The Sun‘s entrance into ARIES—on the evening of March 19—announces the first day of Spring and the Vernal Equinox in the northern hemisphere.  This is considered the Astrological New Year!  The days are now as long as the nights —and the pace of life begins to quicken.  The flavor of the month is hot, bold and intense!

A cardinal fire sign, ARIES is associated with rebirth, transformation and new beginnings. Blossoms & babies are bursting forth everywhere, powerful evidence of the awesome regenerative forces of nature.  This is a time for self-reliance, courage and trailblazing. Trust that you have the inner resources to grab the ram by the horns and push yourself to spring forward!

The mythological phoenix—rising from its ashes, only to fly higher—is an appropriate representation of the sign ARIES.  Along with mother earth, now is the time to wash off the residues of winter and get fired up for your annual metamorphosis!  Throw yourself into some spring cleaning, purge the past and prepare for takeoff!  This month is ripe for starting up new hobbies, projects and business ventures, developing your talents or taking a chance with love.

However. . . getting things off the launching pad may take a little more time and effort than it normally does at this time of year.  First of all, it’s likely that winter (physically & psychologically) will seem to drag out longer than usual.  Venus, Saturn & Neptune are all in PISCES as this solar month begins —and once Mars joins the pack on the 22nd, there will be 4 planets in this water sign!  Could be some foggy, soggy energy afoot as we slog along.  While the Sun has now completed its cycle in PISCES and has leapt into ARIES, there are still remnants and residues from the past that will require some attention (particularly involving work, employment, physical, mental & spiritual health, pets or volunteer activities).

Right off the bat, the heavy Venus-Saturn conjunction—on March 21—could bring up a reality check when it comes to relationships, harmony, integrity, responsibility and mutual respect. Some significant re-evaluations of your social alliances & interactions may be required around this time; you may need to cope with frustration, confusion, disappointment or loss.  A long-term friendship could possibly end—or restructure — or even become more deeply committed.  Someone from your past could re-enter your life; it would be an ideal time to reconnect with the elders of your tribe.  There is no question that love is the answer.

Fortuitously—on the very same day—the dynamic Sun-Pluto sextile will inspire a major pick-me-up.   It’s time for new beginnings!  Grab this energetic, assertive & enterprising energy and run with it — follow your passions and feed your creativity.  Playfulness  is in the air!  With Pluto, ruler of ARIES, now in AQUARIUS, you’re being called upon to change up the energy, experiment with new technologies and explore alternative options.  Express your originality & individuality, and most of all, do things differently.  March to the beat of your own drum!

Mars leaves edgy AQUARIUS and begins its new 6-week cycle in compassionate PISCES on March 22.  Fighting for the underdog and looking out for those who’ve been victimized or marginalized will be a priority.  The escape urge will be also coming on strong, so channel it along healthy & productive avenues as this weekend begins.  Go dancing, hit the gym, take in a concert, head to the ocean or take some time out for meditation & contemplation.  Heal and feel!

The uplifting Venus-Jupiter sextile will bring an opportunity to share love and laughter with family & friends on the 24th (also Palm Sunday); it’s a great time for catching up on communications and enjoying each others’ company.

At the same time, there will be a certain intensity building up as the Full Moon (and Lunar Eclipse) in ARIESLIBRA erupts at midnight PST on March 25.  This symbolizes a potentially volcanic, tumultuous period, one that will require you to maintain an equilibrium between your personal projects and your social involvements.  Things can get out of balance, so do what you need to do for yourself, and at the same time, take others into consideration.  Some sensitive issues involving friends, lovers and/or children may need to be confronted and cleared up around this time.  Keep your head on straight amidst the turmoil & intensity that will be playing out all around you.

A social sparkle will be ignited with the scintillating Venus-Uranus sextile on March 26.  You could meet some unique individuals, enjoy spontaneous social connections and even fall in love at first sight! Easter, which always takes place on the first Sunday following the Full Moon in ARIES—LIBRA, will be celebrated on March 31 this year.   It will be accompanied by the exuberant SAGITTARIUS Moon, which can inspire faith, hopefulness & positivity.  Refresh your spirit!

It’s no April Fool’s joke that Mercury begins its 3½ week retrograde in ARIES on April 1.  At a time when you’re raring to go, you’ll need to rein yourself in, put on the brakes and catch up with yourself instead.  In a midst of what is usually a forward-moving cycle,  this retrograde symbolizes a time for review & re-evaluation — not a time for impatiently jumping into something new.  Channel that intense mental energy into doing your research, previewing your options and going back over your plans.  Don’t officially start up a new project or business, have a non-emergency surgery, sign contracts or buy a car, computer, phone or electronic equipment until after Mercury turns direct on April 25.  If you absolutely have to make a significant purchase during this cycle, be sure to keep the receipt handy.

As Venus comes to the end of its transit of PISCES, it makes a mystical conjunction with Neptune on April 3.  You may be inclined to take some meditative time-out, go to a yoga class, help someone less fortunate than yourself or adopt a furry friend.  While you may feel especially sensitive & compassionate right now, you could also be sucked into a sob story, be vulnerable to disinformation or experience social missteps.  Set clear boundaries!  This would be a good night to catch up on your sleep.Aries symbol 3 - OpenclipartOn April 4, the  Sun-Lunar Node conjunction in ARIES (aka Moon Wobble) represents the mid-point of a 2-week period of instability.  Once again, you’ll want to take a deep breath before throwing yourself headlong into the unknown (especially since ARIES is associated with the head and the atlas & axis vertebrae).  Let yourself be inspired and tantalized, but don’t create headaches for yourself by taking risky, impulsive actions while this cycle is in effect.

Once Venus enters ARIES on the evening of the 4th, life will really begin to accelerate.  You’ll be ready to meet new people, renew old friendships and enjoy some spontaneous social get-togethers.  The passionate Venus-Pluto sextile on April 6 could initiate a significant collaborate project or a transformative relationship.  Go for the gusto!

One of the most widely-anticipated events of the year — the New Moon (and Total Solar Eclipse) in ARIES — grabs our attention  on April 8 at 11:21 am PDT. For deeper insight into this astronomical phenomenon:  We’re being reminded by the dazzling upcoming Jupiter-Uranus  conjunction (on April 20) to look at the bigger picture and to take a cosmic perspective.  Since we won’t experience anything like this for a couple more decades, take a few minutes  out of your day and lift your eyes to the skies!

Take advantage of the creative, enterprising and innovative spark of this intense ARIES New Moon Whatever is initiated from this point on can have a major impact on the year ahead. Pioneer new pathways, do things you’ve never done before and take a few risks; express your creativity through art, music or dance activities.  Make time for fun & games — pull out the RummyKube, Boggle, Scrabble, checkers or cards.  Let your inner child out to play! You may enjoy spending some quality time with children and refreshing your outlook on life — remember what it feels like to be young, playful and fun-loving.

You may experience some obstacles, blockages or delays in your path as the frustrating Mars-Saturn conjunction builds to a peak on April 10.  Since this aspect is in PISCES, your workload could be heavier than usual, issues with co-workers might arise, equipment might break down or outgrown procedures may inhibit your progress.  Boost your immune system and make a realistic assessment of your health habits.   Confront any medical challenges you’re dealing with, review your commitments to exercise, rest & relaxation and give some extra attention to your pets.
